Holdsworth Super Mistral

Hurrah! Another lovely Holdsworth.
No.39359 which should make it 1973 Super Mistral (has the diamond brake bridge details and a shim inside the bridge.)
Cleaned up the chrome and on the rear triangle it's pretty good. Fork is a little dull on the crown and tarnished on the inside faces, but pretty sure is original and it sort of looks good all the same. Ding on the TT but that's ok, all the decals have long gone but the headbadge is lovely. Some nice lining work at the tops of the wrapover's as well
Campag dropouts front and rear, looks like may have been the five-speed model (no cable guides for an FD and not signs of clamps there.
The Miche BB seems well and truly stuck in and that's got to go. Trip to Pankhurst I think as I don't want to jump down the caustic slide of paintwork death.

Trip to Pankhurst?

Re:

Right, going to drill the blighter out on Ricki’s advice.
Had a moment, he thought it might be the work of Reg Collard, maybe an Italia... but having rushed back home to check the interwebz mine doesn’t have the integral Allen Key seat bolt cluster or self-tapping headbadge screws, so am thinking probably not :/

Right, I’ve asked nicely.
You only have yourself to blame.
Bottom bracket be gone.
Cue much chemical action.

Re:

These frames were made for 27" wheels and to my mind 700c wheels just don't look right, unless you want to use mudguards.

If you're into classic frames then investing in a set of good 27" wheels is well worth it.

Yeah, have 27’s on the older Holdsworth (1960) and 700’s with guards on the ‘76 Mercian (which looks ok) so having run both am cogitating on what to do here. Mind you, if anyone has a nice 27’s wheelset for bargains might well be worth the extra 4mm overall rim diameter :)
