Headset Recommendations for a 1990 Explosif - 1" ISO or JIS?

I have just stripped a 1990 Explosif to clean and rebuild and found that the existing headset cups are loose. I assume that a previous owner has used the wrong cups although it looks like a Kona Control Centre gripnut has been used. Should the headset be ISO or JIS?

The forks are Pace RC30's which I assume are ISO?

What headset would be a good replacement please?

Campagnolo Record Road headsets look the part, have great seals, are tough and have grease ports on the lower race so you can purge them easily after any mucky ride without dismantling.

Thank you. A look at availability suggests that only the threadless have the grease port. Is this correct?

This picture from Ribble website suggests they do...see the black rubber cover on the lower.

The Campag spares list here:

also has the ported lower race.

Measure the important bits to be sure. Never guess always measure.

Wise words...If only I used a tape measure properly on my '88 Fire Mountain to measure rear axle width  Vernier calipers are your friend if all else fails.

Speaking of this topic, I found that the fork on that looked to be JIS as a 26.4 crown race didn't want to fit. I ended up attacking the inside of the crown race with a dremel in the end as the headset wasn't too boutique (and replaceable if everything went pear shaped).

I hope that might help :)

Thank you All for the advice.

Hamster my comments on the Campagnolo Record Road headsets was based on the pictures on the Wiggle website rather than Ribble.

I have used the trusty calipers on the existing headset and the crown race is the ISO standard 26.4mm however the cups measure 30.0mm which is JLS size rather than the ISO 30.2mm.

I take it I go with the ISO?
