So... bought a couple of M565 LX hubs a while ago and only just got round to building them up as wheels. Took them out for a little shake down on the pavement yesterday and eveything felt very wobbly... drive side cone was loose (moving up and down in the cup). So tightened everything up... same again. Stripped down and rebuilt the wheel, adjusting which spacers went where, multiple times with the same results. Loads of lateral movement in the rim when the wheel was in the frame.
Finally managed to find a schematic earlier and, on a hunch, measured the bearings. Mine had 10 x 3/8s on each side whereas they should have 9 x 1/4. Argh. Luckily had a box of bearings that my grandad left me, with just enough 1/4s in. All well now. But seriously...
