De Rosa Professional SLX

Retro Newbie
Hey all,

First post, so thought I'd share my tatty old bike I'm not riding :)

I bought this frame and fork about 10 years ago, believing it to be be a De Rosa Professional SLX. I think its early 90's as it has the internal rear brake routing but not sure. I did send the serial number to De Rosa and ask them for the paint code. I got an email back from Christano De Rosa himself no else, but he couldn't really tell me any more info. I built it up with some campaq veloce 9 speed, and threw on some modernish mavics I had spare (which I think look ok on it).

As I said I don't use it as I'm doing longer audax type rides now, and even thought could I turn it into a rando bike?! Apart from obvious drawbacks like tire clearance, geometry, gearing. I could get a dynamo wheelset, front rack, and larger cassette or turn it into a triple. Probably a ridiculous idea.

Anyway if anyone knows more about these frames, please share. 20210907_100250.jpg 20210907_100258.jpg 20210907_100315.jpg

Cheers,

There is a de rosa Facebook group, they'll know more I'm sure. It looks a wonderful frame, and while I'm all for riding these bikes I don't think it'd be right to rando that one. Plenty of more suitable frames out there with the mounts you'd need for guards etc.
