Chas Roberts Columbus Max 55cm, 9 speed Dura Ace 7700– very rare, fully restored.

Reluctantly selling my Chas Roberts Columbus Max.

If you’re a Roberts fan you probably know how good of a ride this bike is.

Frame was fully restored, painted and upgraded in London. New decals. Internal cabling for rear brakes and new STI cable stops was added when the frame was restored.

Groupset purchased from this forum, took me a long time to find…

All parts are working perfectly. Needless to say, the whole bike has been used but is an absolute joy to ride. The frame was made to measure I would guess around 20 to 25 years ago by Chas Roberts.

Re:

Absolutely gorgeous, but from experience a touch small for me.

If you can read the serial then it should be simple to date. The first four digits will be year and then month built, last two will be build number for the month, e.g 010203 will be the third frame built in February 2001. This doesn’t apply to all Roberts frames, just to those after they switched to a 6 digit serial sometime in the 80s.

Re:

Thanks Pat, that's really helpful information.

This frame would be the 4th frame build in March 1991.
