Went to the tip to dump some rubble this morning and this 531 Magnum framed Spectre was on the top of the metals skip, and now it's mine thanks to the friendly staff there.

Frame and wheels in very good condition but needs new cables and chain, plus bar & stem need painting or changing.

Is this a 93 Spectre?

Is this a genuine Rock Shox fork, and if so what model? I haven't seen one with the hex key adjusters and black crown.

92 model - mine was identical but 'grello' - yours has MAG10 forks?

My Spectre ended up with MAG20, 'new' LX lo pro cranks and a smattering of interesting early 90's parts.

original retail was £499 with Wolber AT18, and full 500LX

Great find. Forks look like Quadra 10s to me, could be wrong.

They are just 'Quadras', the first years release prior to 10s or 21 (93 vs 94 for the quadra 10). The black crown is the giveaway.

Re:

The bit of searching I've done today also makes me think they're the early Quadras.

I understand they're elastomers, but luckily they still seem to bounce OK.

I don't think this bike has been used much at all, just stored for years.

The inner Allen key does the preload, the big one allows you to remove the top cap. Wind the inner bolt all the way in and then you can undo the big one.

The elastomers are not so susceptible to degradation as normal ones, they are massive long things, not sure what the technical term is but they are not all bubbly like Judy or Manitou bumpers

They were the first proper suspension forks that I could afford
