Cannondale M800 (Light Project)

Okies my inexperience comes out and I guess my learning may help someone out there. I have not touched the frame for two weeks, however the 2K lacquer should have a chemical reaction and be hard kinda quickly (within a day or so). 70% of the frame the 2K lacquer is hard, however where I have possibly put on too thick coats, I can scratch/indent the lacquer with my nail.

Cellulose lacquer never did this - but the 2K has. (take note)

I have just 'baked" ( high heat for 30 minutes ) the frame to see if this resolves the issue.

If it is still soft, am going to have to rub some of it down again. The base coat was dry, the 70% Isopropyl alcohol had evaporated, I put on too thick a coat of 2K lacquer, on some areas.

Jings.... mare Wet n' Dry then.....

Okies, had the heat 3KW fan heater all over the frame for a few hours on each side, the 2K is going hard. My guess and for what am reading 2K needs at least 20 degrees Celsius for it to cure (or more), even though its a chemical reaction for "curing" - I have rubbed down the "soft" areas just gently and once the gloss/sheen is off the 2K lacquer, it is completely cured and stable underneath (underneath a very thin layer, am not removing all lacquer - Wet n' Drying a very, very thin layer). I just need to rub down a small amount of lacquer and fire on some more thinner coats of the 2K lacquer, then apply heat. (my last words 🤪 - never again)

There is so much I have done with thinner coats and there is no issue, its just where thicker coats have been applied at once. (take note)

If anyone knows any better and if I am talking rubbish above, please engage and let me and future post viewers know for reference, that would help!

ta, Stephan.
