Hi Padster .Welcome to the land of lost content .
I used Argos because they do box lining . The one thing at the time Mercians did not do .{This may have changed}.
Argos removed all the old chrome prior the repainting . I decided not to rechrome on cost grounds {Hetchins waitng in the wings for that at the time}
If the forks are pitted who ever does your re spray should use a filler primer as a base coat then use a fine sand paper to smooth it down .

On re chroming .Derby Chrome Plating are one of the best . Not cheap but you get what you pay for .{They have a web site.}.

I'm thinking the same thing about the chrome. It's an expensive job to replace it so I'll probably not bother.

I'm going to go back to the original colour scheme of Royal Blue with a white headtube and a broad white band around the seat tube, lug lined in white.

When I have some pictures I'll start a new thread and link to them.
