Respray at Argus end of that year .
After a fair amount of time spent on other projects and deciding what parts to use ,I thought I had better start after find my "round to it tool"

Link here until I work out the new process of transfering pictures from flickr .

Shows it as was .Then after repaint . Finally today with most of the parts laid out
prior to assembly

Re:

Nice work on the respray! Lovely box lining in particular.

It's one of my favourite bits of a restoration/refurb, getting to the point where you have all the bits together and can start building up.

Yes they are Resilions . Relacements for the ones that were worn out and broken . They came out of my stock of old bits.
The gear issue ie which simplex type to fit is pending .

How old is the frame ?

there is no brazed "double holed" hanger on the chainstay ? but you have a mounting one ?

if you use without hanger
Maybe the Simplex Champion du Monde ?

Re:

Very interested to see this Bagpuss. My current project is a Bates BAR from around 1959 but the frame came to me already refinished. Good luck with the build and I’ll keep an eye out for updates.

Issues with cable fitting and lack of a spring holder on the gp model .

Re:

Up date
Project now nearly finished .
The resilion canti lever brakes took a while to fit . Trying not to damage the new paint work been the main issue . Fine adjustment also took awhile .
The Simplex record 60 rear mech is the final bit to finish installing .Not happy with the chain run round the jockey wheel .
I will add some more pictures later today .

Hi Bagpuss

What a beautiful bike! I'm restoring my dad's B.A.R. at the moment and your bike's truly an inspiration.

My B.A.R. is all stripped down and I'm at the point of sending it for painting.

Out of interest why did you choose Argos for the respray? It's a lovely job but I notice your location is Derby and Argos is at Bristol. I'm at Tamworth myself and was looking at using Argos but I'm tempted by Mercian as it's on the doorstep.

Looking at your original pictures I notice yours has exactly the same chrome on the front and rear forks as I have on mine. Did that old chrome have to be taken off before painting? My forks are pitted and have been painted over so I'm think they'll either have to be rechromed or stripped before repainting.

Sorry for all the questions! - I'm not new to cycling but definitely new to restoration.
