So indication of the nature of the scam - the MO etc.
Might help us to identify the scam sooner rather than later if attempted again.

Identifying that it's suspect wasn't that hard really. Here's the thread.

At the start of page 2 it became clear that this wasn't going to end well :
I'm reading some quite disturbing stories on this sale via Facebook.
Seller will only accept bank transfer or PayPal payment friends and family with no protection for buyer.

Its been reported that buyer paid deposit to sellers "friends" account via PayPal goods and service but was then refunded.
As soon as you read that the seller flat-out refuses any payment method that gives the buyer protection, you should know something's off.
That's the point where everyone should just walk away, no matter how rare and desirable the part/bike is.
 
If as I suspect, this is true, it is a very sad situation and makes this comment all the more insulting.....

Life is not all money, not all things can be bought, but many others can be done, with not as much if you provide the resources or people involved
