you will feel a little detached from the front wheel though . when you pull up the wheel wont lift off the ground the same amount as you pull on the bars , you would need to pull more to take into account the extra extention of the forks .

Yes, I expected that. It is more the sharpness of the steering I have been worrying about.

you will sadly lose the sharpness yes . its why im not using my bombers at the moment . i like feeling the tyre dig in through the mud

ive had a quick look and rebas are air forks ? have a play with the compression and rebound ( or whatever they are calling it ) and find a setting you like

I saw one of those on Ebay and assumed it was a cruiser. How does it ride?

Perhaps the one I got a little while ago. It is a cruiser, and not just "technically." It's very nice to ride around town, light and pretty damn quick too. However, I don´t think it would be ideal off-road, and maybe not the best example to show an older frame with new forks as it really isn't the same as a mountain bike, despite similarities in head tube angle and seat tube angle. The wheel base is much longer than a mountain bike for one, so the handling doesn't feel anywhere near the same.

Yup, stylin' bike and passes a lot of people ;-) It's all original from ´95 except the seatpost and saddle. It came with a 27.2 (wrong size but luckily not stuck) and a Sella Italia leather/ti/kevlar saddle worth about a third of what I paid for the whole bike Mint shape, too. The tyres still had the rubber "hairs"on them...I forget the tech term for them.

I actually had thoughts of trying it out in the forest, but once it arrived and I rode it I didn't think it would be that great an idea actually, or not without a complete change of parts. But still the wheelbase would make it a bit awkward. I think the A'ha cruiser might be better suited as an off-road convert.
