7 speed freewheel/cassette question!

I recently upgraded my vintage touring Raleigh from 6 speed downtube shifters to 7 speed sti shifters. I've got a 7 speed freewheel on the back on a bog standard wheel. I had a little good fortune at a cycle auction and bid for and won a pair of wheels with 105 hubs, some vintage looking mavic rims and a brand new HG Hyperglide cassette (as opposed to freewheel). The wheel slots in no problem but does anyone know if I there's any difference in freewheel/cassette spacings?

6spd is 5mm spacing and 7spd is 4.8mm from memory.

Nearly all 7 speed freewheels/cassettes have the same spacing between the sprockets, and pretty similar sprocket thickness. I've interchanged Shimano 7sp cassettes and a variety of 7sp freewheels without any problems.
