53 Claud (at the back of the queue)

Got this one 2 years ago for pennies, it's been at the back of my mind what to do with it for a good while but I've finally decided that it deserves moving up the queue and putting back to near original with period kit on it.
Came from the first owner who had done a rebuild of sorts to it for his kids in the 70s. Not much good about it except the frame, Concorde bars and early GB girder stem.
Thinking about a nice Stronglight 49D and some Airlite hubs on a single/fixed set up.
Someone tell me what colour scheme, I'm open to suggestions.

Regards
Tony

Hello,
So, after only a quick look on my phone screen I’d say it was a Jubilee from December 1953. As for colour schemes... fill your boots. But if you want an idea of a “correct” decal layout, check mine below in my signature. (pg9) 8)

Re:

Hi
I'm not even going to try and compete with your '54 :). Mine will be a rattle can job in the garage, a set of decals from HL and 2 coats of clear lacquer!
I'm thinking bronze or gold for this one with a contrasting band on the seat tube.

Just got to get the Sirocco, the Vindec and the Selbach completed first - good job I don't go to work anymore!

That’s cool, I always associate Gold with Clauds even though none of mine are....yet

Plenty of contributors on here will gladly chip if you need it.

That looks like the kind of frame that wants oily rag treatment rather than a respray. Perfect as it is!

 Apart from someone’s stuck some 80’s Holdsworth CB stickers on a 50’s “real Claud” with the down tube graphic and seat tube graphics swapped over.... second thoughts, what’s not to love?

Re:

If it had been the original paint I would have considered saving it but it's such a slap-dash job that it deserves better.
Did this in my garage last year, sold it to make some room but saved a load of pictures of it. :D.
Late 70s Paramount - you probably saw it on Evilbay. The chap I sold it to used to ride with Pongo.
