15" American Eagle Taos - project

Spotted this close by and picked it up earlier today: a nice project / attempt to evoke my daughter's enthusiasm for mountainbiking



Think it's a '96, full Acera X
Forks have seen better days, but I have a few alternatives.
Let's see how this is going to turn out!

Date codes on the 170mm cranks: TI and TL and on the 7sp rd-mc16 Alivio rear mech: UF, so 1996.

These are nice frames that are often overlooked. Ritchey drop-outs, braze-on cable guid on the seat cluster and Breezer- style head tube cable guides! Lots to like - looking forward to seeing you build this one up.

(I have a American Eagle Mammoth frame in the build queue somewhere!!)

If you're referring to the name on the top tube, that used to be a bike shop in the Eastern part of the Netherlands .

First introductory roll around the block today .
Bike spins nice and my daughter had her first experience with good ol' Shimano shifters.
The bike fits her nicely, as soon as she's a bit more familiar with late '90s technology AND the weather improves a bit, we can go for an offroad ride





It's been upgraded with some Deore XT m738, Magura HS33, Rock Shox Mag21's, Chris King HS, Mavic 117 SUP CDs and Ritchey tyres .

How are you/ is she getting on with the Magura hs33?
I recently bought a Specialized with those brakes (in bright yellow), and they are apparently so powerful that they wore the braking surface down on the Mavic x221 rims unlike anything I've ever seen
