Thank you very much for adding you 1998 Hei Hei to the Kona Titanium Serial Number List.
I see that it has 1994 Down Tube, and Top Tube Decals with a 1998 Head Tube Decal and the 1999 Kona Custom Decal.
I will add it to the List soon.

Hello there, and welcome to Retrobike. Thank you very much for adding some pictures of your Hot to the Kona Hot Serial Number List.
Yes the bike is a 1994 Hot in 18", and a fine example in Burgundy. You may like to start your own thread for your bike in the appropriate section...
Okaaay, just a quick update with regards to moving into Malvern, and in the longer term, how we are going to administer the Serial Number Lists.
A bit out of focus, but here is a picture taken from scrambling on my bed, and looking across at my Work Area - pretty cool I reckon  :
I am...
Thanks Alasdair.
I am off to Malvern later this morning, and will be staying there for a time yet to be determined. I didn't know how this was going to pan out, but I have been given a Temporary Doctor there, who wants to meet me. I assume that I will also meet a Macmillan Nurse at some point...
I didn’t know the best time to do this, or indeed how to put this into words, but here goes;
To summarise; as this bloody awful disease progresses, I will be less able to contribute to the site.
Firstly, there is my general knowledge of all things Kona X.C., which it could be said isn’t quite...
Normally I could put something together rather better to do some more effective comparison, but I'm not so tickety-boo right now, and have left the harder work to whoever may feel the need to wade through these pictures.
Yes you are correct regarding the tubing that was used for the confirmed...
I’ve been trying to compose something here for a few days now, and I am struggling for a couple of reasons. Namely, I’m obviously a bit under the weather and on some fairly heavy gear to help with that. I'm finding it somewhat complicated trying to figure out these different types of tubing from...
Some newer pictures have come to light of this unusual frame:
Going by Cable Stops and Dropouts alone, it has to a 19” 1993 or ‘94 or ‘95 frame, but with rather more modern 1998 / 1999 Down Tube Decals, some generic “Kona Custom” and “Hei Hei” Decals, and the very interesting “Police” Decal...
Okaaay, back to some Titanium...... I have updated the Titanium Serial Number List with a superb addition from Sándor. This time it is a 1999 17" King Kahuna with an intact Orange painted Head Tube - good call.
Pip
A frame can be made from a mixture of tubing. For example, a 1998 Kapu frame that I have on file uses Reynolds 853 Main Frame tubing, but the Seat Stays and the Chain Stays will probably be Reynolds 725, or even generic 4130 non heat-treated stays.
The Ritchey stamped Seat stays that you...
Ah, rightyho. thank you for that conformation.
I have a really good Samsung Monitor, and a blinking expensive HP Computer with and upgraded Graphics Card, but despite all that.... I appear to struggle with seeing detail very well 🧐🤔🧐 . Although I do need to consider that I am on fairly hectic...
Thank you very much for the pictures of your Hot frame.
I will add it to the Kona Hot Serial Number List, when I have confirmed a couple of details:
I can say that it is a 1993 frame built by Tom Teesdale, but I am not very good at figuring out a size from a picture of a frame only, but I have...
With regards to the tubing used for the 1997 Caldera, we have it documented in the Catalogue that "Altitude" Heat Treated Cromoly tubing was used.
MDS's has the a Serial number of a 1997 Hot built in July 1996: H0 9607032, Different blue, 19". This would indicate that it is Reynolds 853 Butted...
Yes the Blue colour of MDS is a good representation of the picture (Artist's Impression / not a photograph) of the 1997 Catalogue Blue.
mrdryskull: H0 9607032:
Just to confuse matters, the Catalogue documents Poopsy Blue & Molotov Red on the Spec Listing page .
Any road up...
Rightyho. I have slightly tweaked the 1st post, to help it resemble the other Hot, Ku & Titanium Frame Lists.
A point of interest, would be to discuss the three different prefixes for these frames: H0, CA & K0
mrdryskull's, with H0 9607032 is in keeping with the the 1997 Hot frames. I believe...
1997 Caldera Frame Serial Numbers:
Hand made in USA by Altitude Cycle Technologies.
Featured in the 1997 catalogue, but some say never sold to the public, although I think this is a bit of poetic licence. Kona says approximately 50 were built in (Poopsy) Blue and 50 in (Molotov) Red.
Made from...
