In 2019 I tried different bars and a shorter stem and changed back to a full Shimano brake setup, albeit with a Zee caliper in the front and a XT for the rear. I then managed to find a 0° 70mm Thomson stem and put back on the Fleegle bars.

A good friend offered me a NOS 2002 Marzocchi Z2 Atom Race ETA for the Kinetic. Steerer might need some trimming still, but otherwise it fits like a glove and rides excellently (for a fork of that age). I did not think that the ETA would be necessary, but the fork is very active on the uphills...

The Thomson stem fits the bill, at least for me. I'd love to get a quill stem, but the bars will have to stay. And they do not play nice with stem without removable faceplates.

Pads were fairly new salmon coloured Kool Stops...it was decent for a canti, but nothing to shout about compared to a V-brake. I'm a sucker for powerful brakes and mismatching parts. So I'll keep it that way.
