    Colnago '80s Model type?

I'd say Mexico from 80-83 before the Nuovo Mexico came out. Some team bikes in early 80s had that type of decals

Beautiful!😍 The Team Panasonic is really nice colour combo(Finnish flag). I also have 8spd Athena/Veloce that I was thinking to but on the bike. Looks really good with the silver aero rims, but the Chorus hubs are on black EA60's so maybe I try black saddle with white bar tape. Tires will be...

Parts , bikes and project bikes

Yesterday doing the rear wheel was enough of work for one day. The rear spacing was little narrow and I didn't know how much there was grease in the hub so I started to take the axle off, but the thread was bad so I chased it. Then I needed to take the freewheel of to grease the drive side and...

...finished today but the steerer tube was cut at an angle by someone and next to the slot for the keyed washer, 7mm's down from top the thread was f****d and I dont have a die for that size so had to "chase" it with a fine pointed file and also file the top level. Got left with just enough...

I think I will post all the future projects, parts and bikes I have to this thread. The Santini and the Scott I will finish in their own threads.

    Early 80s Santini

Need to wet sand and add atleast one more coat of paint. I will sand the dropout faces to chrome and then add clearcoat.

    Early 80s Santini

I used a few coats of phosphoric acid to deactivate the rust

    Early 80s Santini

Going to paint the whole frame. Only pitting was on the top tube, but I just had to check under every part with bubbly paint. It will not be good paintjob as I can't be bothered with sanding the surface smooth around the parts where the chrome has flaked off.

    Early 80s Santini

I did the stupid thing and colour matched the reds in the store using a picture of the frame on my phone and having tested the paint the "ferrari red" is too light.

    Early 80s Santini

Don't know if the chrome would polish to a mirror finish? I've been thinking about stripping the fork and maybe the rear triangle off of the paint and leaving them to bare chrome. Or not... I forgot the chrome has partly flaked off from all the dropouts and it would look weird if I painted the...

    Early 80s Santini

Worst damage is on the top tube. I'll need to clean the rust off, put some rust stopper and paint over with "Ferrari red". I think those small holes where the rust has eaten under the chrome are nothing to worry about, but comments are always welcome. It's been raining here for every other day...

    Brake ID please!

Those Veloce brakes were only for 1995, when Mirage and Avanti were indroduced. 1994 Chorus->dual pivot, Athena->Chorus, Veloce/Stratos->single pivot In 1995 Stratos is replaced with Mirage/Avanti and Veloce goes up the hierarchy 1995 Veloce->mono, Mirage/Avanti->Stratos single pivot, 1996...

Build log, ramblings, cutting down a collection

It was a nice, relatable read. Thanks! It sounds like you have bit of a luxury problem. I sometimes have that too. I'm a lazy perfectionist attracted to shiny, rare and (once) expensive bikes and parts.😁 But when you start to have more parts lying around than you have bikes and more bikes than...

    Brake ID please!

Those are most likely mid 90s Veloce monoplanar brakes. The brake pads and what looks to be aluminium spring stop on the arm are the giveaways. They look like the first version Chorus brakes but those have the darker colored steel barrels on the arms to stop the spring.

    Early 80s Santini

I was looking at the 1988 "Tange Frame Components System" catalog and both the Tange no. 1 and no. 2 tubesets used the same 0.9-0.6-0.9 DB seat tube. Stated weight for the framesets is 2220g for the no.1 and 2290 for the no.2

If you don't want to pay silly prices for the campy wrench these flex head ratcheting wrenches have worked for me.
