For me the 1098/1198/848 is the best looking overall but that’s likely as it’s the period where I started to get into them. 916 shaped ones are still such great looking bike even 30 years later but do look their age as the 999 could pass as a modern bike almost.

Syncros posts weren’t decals as standard. Many have them as decals now since the original ones wore off. XTR logos can be put back on a Seatpost with laser etch.

I’ve taken the frame and fork for paint this week. How do we feel about Dekerf logos on the fork legs rather than bomber? I’ve seen quite a few bikes like this. Not sure if that’s how they left Dekerf but seems to be a theme.

Dent in the top tube , and quite rusty it seems. Definitely a gamble since most of parts are scrap (stem cracked too)

749/999 have aged very well I think. The design was ahead of its time and they were a absolute bargain

Vernon himself was a decent painter and aluminium welder. (Not Ti) But I’ve heard so many bad stories about the ones who took it over. Wouldn’t trust them to do this delicate job. Personally I’d leave it too. As the likely outcome is that it gets damaged.
