I discovered Audaxing back in 2014 having been introduced to it by a fellow member of my local cycling club.
It's been a major part of the cycling I've done since then.
For those unfamiliar with Audax, it's basically a form of long distance riding, with 200km (124miles) being the 'standard'...
Nice bike and mostly original. The seller has got the tyres mixed up front to back and it's missing the original thumbshifters and saddle.
This is probably one for @kraeMit but I'm sure somebody else may know the answer too.
I have this fork which I believe to be a Marzocchi Star fork from around 1989-1991.
It works too, as well as an early nineties fork can be expected to.
I think I can rule out it being a PF1 or a TT10...
I know I should be finishing off the two Saracen Kili Flyer Comps I've been slowly progressing through, but in the process of sorting out what parts I have and what I still need to find I've pulled out a few more unfinished projects.
I usually go for as close to original spec as possible with...
I recently purchased a pair of the Vittoria Freedom Duel HDC tyres listed on eBay from Italy.
They arrived today and look pretty good.
But does anyone know anything about them?
In particular, when they would have originally been available?
EDIT: Having done a little research, I suspect these...
I've been sorting through a couple of boxes of old MBUK and MBi magazines and thought I would start sharing some of the articles, bike tests and other interesting stuff from within.
This time it's the MBUK Summer Special from 1991.
1989 Saracen Kili Flyer Competition
<--- RESERVED FOR IMAGE OF COMPLETED BIKE --->
As some of you know, and if you don't it's rather obvious from many of the bikes in my collection, that I have a soft spot for Saracen bikes from a certain era.
One of those in particular has always been...
1990 Saracen Kili Flyer Competition
<--- RESERVED FOR COMPLETED BIKE --->
I had for a long time been gathering a full Shimano XTII M730/732 groupset in black for this 1990 Kili Flyer Comp frameset which I picked up several years ago. I was never that enthusiastic about building it up with all...
After receiving a few more skin/amberwall this morning, I thought I ought to check on just what I actually have tucked away in the workshop.
I also needed to have a tidy up in the storeroom so it was a good opportunity to give them an airing. I genuinely forgot that I had some of these tyres...
1988 Saracen Trekker
In an attempt to catch up on several long overdue build threads I've been searching through folders, pumping up tyres and charging up the camera to document a few more bikes from my collection.
This one is a Saracen Trekker from 1988. I can't remember who I purchased...
1990 GT Timberline
One of my earlier memories when I was really getting into mountain biking at the age of 13 or 14 was of this bike.
A classmate at my school who always got the latest Star Wars toys, Lego and as he got a bit older; mountain bikes had himself one of these.
I ended up buying...
As 2015 draws to a close it's time to plan ahead for events in 2016.
One of the main stays of the Retrobike calendar is our attendance at Mountain Mayhem.
There are already a few threads up organising teams and racing/drinking strategies, but in case you weren't sure here are a few clues from...

The Turkey Twizzler ~ Cannock Chase
:: Date: Sunday 27th December 2015
:: Distance/time: 18 miles or so spread out over a day's riding with plenty of stops, moaning and banter. Several short cut options available too.
1990 Saracen Tufftrax
Here's another Saracen from my collection. This one is a 1990 Tufftrax in magenta according to the catalogue. I still think it's pink though.
I picked this one up from Sheffield via eBay as a complete bike a couple of years ago. Most of the parts were there but in a less...
1990 Saracen Eiger
As some of you may already know, the Saracen Eiger was exclusively offered by Halfords during a long period of association with the Saracen brand.
The Eiger range had a few variations each year it was offered. For example in 1990 there was the Eiger, the Eiger Cross, Eiger...
1988 Saracen Kili Flyer
I picked this up as a complete and nearly completely original bike a couple of months ago. As you can see from the first photo it had been adapted to have a 'more comfortable' riding position.
The previous owner had bought it from a friend about twenty years ago and had...
The Annual Retrobike ‘Day in the Peaks’ Ride Aftermath
26 riders turned out in the morning's light drizzle for another day of riding old bikes in the Peak District. The climbs were to be expected, but the weather forecast promised somewhat kinder conditions than we actually got. While it didn't...
