    Comparison Exage 300 LX/LX 560 groupset

Having got two main 1993 bikes I ride hard still (560 on an Orange P7 and M900 on a KHS) I can tell you 560 is not only as good as suggested above, but actually performs far better than M900 at this point in their lifecycle. What it might lose in a few grams it makes up for in quality at this...

Orange P7 outlaw build. sort of finished.

Definitely with you on no flat bar. Love it. Needs a rear mech to match 😉, it deserves one

    Orange P7 1995

A year on I’ve made a few changes. This is now my main mountain bike having taken over duties from my 2007 Kona and waiting for more time to work out the XTR gremlins on my KHS Team replica. I swapped the bars (wide, riser) and stem (very short) and love the ride. I literally failed to stop...

    7 Speed Cassette Compatibility

Now we know how to space around them, back to the rivets on the HG41 for a second. There is indeed a hole at the 3rd equidistant point. Given both are the same and were sourced very differently in time and source I’m guessing it’s deliberate

    7 Speed Cassette Compatibility

lol, it’s ok, I understand your point about my predicament, but the wider info is interesting all the same

    7 Speed Cassette Compatibility

Ah of course, I’ve seen these before but never put two and two together. And yes, the LX one does have the threads. Also pulled out an STX paralax today from a parts box which is subtly different, doesn’t have the threads and doesn’t need a spacer for the cassette…

    7 Speed Cassette Compatibility

I have a couple of 7 speed LX rear hubs (560 and 563) with their original freehubs and I have two new HG41-7ac cassettes, neither cassette fits either freehub. There’s about 1mm of play between the 6 cog block and the small ring. I’ve tried a spacer at the back but the 2 rivets that (I’m...

    Show me your KHS.

Guess this is good opportunity to post a family picture of KHS bikes from 93 and 94, right to left 1993 Blue/Pink Montana Team Replica - - ridden regularly now - - Comp frame until I can find a Blue/Pink Team that doesn't need respraying - - XTR/Magura/Manitou/USE -...

    Show me your KHS.

Don't know a huge amount about these, but for a KHS with the Team title I'm guessing some of the groupset has been downgraded over time? In 1993 the Team was XTR M900. I think it did slide down a bit to XT in 94/95. They were clearly still using the OX tubing which is nice, be interesting to...

Wanted M900 compatible inner chainring bolts

Like an idiot I rode off with them finger tight after a deep clean. Lost 4 bolts and spacers. From measuring the only one that didn’t fall off they are M8 bolt with 13.7mm of threaded bolt M8 spacer that’s 5.3mm deep can’t find anything too close online (5mm spacers are easy but I’m guessing...

Sold AMERICAN CLASSIC HUBBED MAVIC 217 CERAMIC SNOWFLAKE FRONT WHEEL (TWISTED SPOKES CONTENT ;)

Love a snowflake wheel. Mines been built since 1994 and the spokes are rock solid and the wheels always been true

KHS Montana Team 1993 (US Spec)

It's now almost how I want it, except it's still not a Team frame. New stem is in the post to replace the roadie stem I found in the parts draw and the front brake doesn't yet have any fluid in it, with an olive in the post. I'm still building the rear wheel with the XTR m900 hub and then I...

    Wanted Manitou 2 Top Caps

I have a pair of Manitou Sports and have just realised theirs do not fit so they're not as universal as I'd hoped. The Manitous 2 stantions have an internal diameter of approx 25.9mm, whereas the Sports are approx 23.9mm, would you mind measuring these across the lower end of the metal and maybe...

Magura HS33 Brake lever not springing back

Ah, it was indeed simple, even simpler than that! In order to removed the lever handle and investigate your suggestion I started undoing the pivoting bolt and the level bounced back. Seems I shouldn't have tightened the pivot bolt quite so much! Feeling a little foolish now :)

Magura HS33 Brake lever not springing back

Am I missing something? I have bought two independent brakes on eBay from two different sellers. I've stripped and cleaned both and setup one (the rear) completely with new fluid and bleeding. I squeeze the lever and the pads actuate, but the lever doesn't return to neutral on releasing the...
