    DNA Titanium Big Bone

I briefly had a DNA. Ended up being stolen. It rode very nicely indeed. It’ll make a great build.

2001 Marin Bear Valley seat post

I have just consulted the internet. There’s not much there is there? I mean, there’s loads, just not that. I now know the spokes were 1.8mm I can only suggest getting hold of both.

    J Mortimer ???

Fat Finger Syndrome. I hit the wrong letter: Down on the South Coast if it is a postcode. The States? It must have some stories to tell. It will build up into a good bike.

    J Mortimer ???

Middlehill Road. That’s a postcode. Reckon it might be the owner? That of course suggests it was made for someone perhaps?

Odd One. Anyone into ‘Carpentry’ or Metal Detectors?

Thanks everyone. The gizmo duly arrived and I have just done a quick test. It found these pieces of metal that were stuck in the old nail holes: My son took it as a personal challenge to get these out. In future I’ll drill out the holes that light up with the cheap jobber drill bit. It...

Odd One. Anyone into ‘Carpentry’ or Metal Detectors?

I usually drill out the nails holes with a cheap jobber bit. That cleans out most of the metal. The pin pointer will hopefully help. The obvious answer is to get a spiral cutter made of something hard. That would cost more than the planer thicknesser.

Odd One. Anyone into ‘Carpentry’ or Metal Detectors?

I’ve taken a chance on a Dr Otek on ebay. A recognised make (?) rather than one of the many copies for sale. If it does t work on the wood, I’ll see if I can find a key I lost in the back garden! Thanks All.

Odd One. Anyone into ‘Carpentry’ or Metal Detectors?

Thank you so much @Totoro . That is very helpful. The problem is the nails that hold some pallets together have arms that stop them pulling out. My homemade pallet breaker provides huge leverage that pulls the nails out often leaving the arms behind. Maybe I’m going about this the wrong way...

Most of the stuff I do is sold to further fund our local Repair Café. This sort of thing: And Elephant.

Odd One. Anyone into ‘Carpentry’ or Metal Detectors?

I enjoy, but aren’t much good at making things from wood. The wood tends to be quite rough; often old pallets complete with nails and the fragmented remains there of. The blades in my planer/thicknesser take a bit of a battering therefore. Taking them out to sharpen and remove the nicks is a...

    Today's Ride

No photos actually en-route as I didn’t stop. My riding has I think started to change. I always rode the same loop of 24 miles trying to shave seconds off on each ride. Like an economy based on continuous growth, this isn’t sustainable! What rides I have done this year have been on new roads...

    Missing Brake Part. Serious?

It was I think a victim of the ice induced crash I had back in January. I went over the bike eventually and found this: Please excuse the mess and DVD collection. I don’t think I will ever take up ‘Streaming’ or whatever! Anyway, it is the tiny washer that is missing from the pivot of the...
