Looking for a steel frame or bike to build up for a mate. I've probably enough parts lying around so would prefer a frame but open to the idea of a bike too.

Ideally an 18" but could go down to 17"

Rock lobster, marin, kona, orange etc

It would probably need to be posted... Unless you're down the South West, Somerset area

What have people got

Thanks

You after disc or v?

I have a lovely pipedream Scion 853 steel frame (well full bike but could split). It's immaculate, only done dry center parcs miles and I'd wager less than 100, and one proper ride off road in the dry. This is an 18/19 inch frame iirc.

Also have a v only diamondback apex frame and fork ( bought both separately but going to be too small for me). Have lots of original spec kit to build it (lx canti groupset mostly). I think this would be classed as a 17.5 frame.

If either float your boat, I can grab pics and confirm sizes.

I think v or disc could work, although preferably v as we'd transfer most of the parts from his current one and whatever I have in the garage. It's an old stumpy which is a bit of a harsh ride, so he's after something a bit 'softer'

I'd imagine the pipedream could be out of budget... And the diamondback a little old?

I think the Diamondback is from around 95. It's in good shape though and will take v brakes but it does have a canti mount on the rear stays.

I have a really decent condition marin pine mountain I’m toying with the idea of letting go, I can’t remember the year, 2001 maybe? It’s Columbus tubing.. C53755C5-400B-4EBB-8C91-715B78EE5BD1.jpeg

I have a Kona Firemountain in 18" that also has a new headset, would include forks, £75? Could deliver too..

Or a newer but V brake only Comencal(dunno if that's the correct spelling?) frame for the same price. Can do pics tomorrow if you want.

Is that frame for sale?

I might be interested in that apex

Yes, it's for sale. I started to put it together. Iirc it's 17.5 c2t. I can measure and confirm if you want any measurements.

How tall are you? 17.5 might be a hair too small for me too. I am 5'11". Did you measure from the center BB all the way to the seat collar or did you measure center BB to center TT, I know some manufacturers had different ways of determining their frame sizes. I am riding an 18" Voodoo Bizango ATM
