help with Carrera (Jeans-Tassoni team?) new project

Retro Guru
Originally attracted my attention by the (fake) pinerello decals but soon realized it's a nice Nivachrome lugged Carrera, with the rear triangle shaped ( "Sagomato" as an Italian would say:), so just bought it and here we are again thinking on the options ....

It's been repainted and not many original components left, so the plan is to paint it again back to original and complete with period correct components. A lot of work if I need to reproduce the airbrushed paint for 1994 !!

I know very little about these Carrera models other than what I could just google recently, so if anyone here can bring me some light, I'll appreciate.

So far, I'd say tubing could be Columbus EL-MAX by looking at the down tube shape at the joint of the bottom bracket, instead of EL-OS
Not sure about the year. 1994 ? I guess is the same model used by Pantani & Jeans-Tassoni team those years ?

Good luck with the project!

I have looked at buying one of these in the past but have never found the right one. I've also never got to the bottom of the tubing question.

As far as I can tell from speaking to a few sellers and looking at lots of pictures, the EL OS version did have ovalized seat and down tubes. These were custom drawn for Carrera. the EL-Max version (with the Tube transfers saying this) also has the ovalized top tube. In both cases the fork is EL. Please do not take this as definitively true, I have no direct source from either Columbus or Podium. Still it gives you an excuse to look at even more photos of beautiful bikes!

Thanks, for the hint. I've got a catalog and it just says "Niva chrome".... EL are round tubes and Max are ovalized so I'd figure in both cases there is a mix of the two anyhow.

Most of the components are off and clean now. Coming to year & paint question, now trying to decide between 93 and 94 paint jobs...

Which one you found more desirable ??

Re:

Nice frame
Personal opinion only, but the triple chainset would have to go. TBH, I'm surprised it all works with what looks like a short arm rear mech

You have a good collection ;) Thanks for the help . This was a Zeus model if I recall well, got the catalog, with the Sagomato rear triangle. At the end , too much trouble getting the paint, and too many bikes, so got it sold. Thanks anway for your help. Maybe you can show yourr in another thread ? These Carreras are the best of an era.
