1992 GT Team Avalanche

Casual Dreamer

Retro Newbie
I was very excited when I came across this bike, when I contacted the owner and worked out a price I drove my 1970 Chevy Impala the 4 hour drive to pick it up! The guy I got it from bought it new in the box when he worked at Riteway Products (a big GT distributor on the west coast) in 1991. He didn't put many miles on it, it mostly hung from the ceiling of his apartment for the next several years. After that it went to his brother who had it tuned up at some point, the grips were replaced due to the originals becoming sticky, for some reason the rear brake pads were changed too, other than that the bike is completely original down to it's Ritchey tires. The Midnight Aurora paint is in fantastic condition, this color is hard to take pictures of, it is amazing in person! It rides like a dream, and fits like a glove. I feel very fortunate to find one of my grail bikes so early in collecting vintage mountain bikes.

WOW!!! How clean is that??? Looks totally original apart from grips and rear brake pads?

A friend had one and I was super jealous as I just had the Avalanche. The Midnight Aurora paint scheme looked SO good!!! Mind you I loved the 1990 Team Avalanche in Black Widow colour scheme. Was a great period for GT bikes.

Another clean bike pretty rare the team avalanche here in the U.K. lovely colour the best era of gt in my opinion but I would say that as I have a 90 and 91 Xizang’s
