7 months later and still not quite up and running. But partially together and rear hub bearing fixed.
I need to pump the forks up, add oil, headset spacers and some hydro disc brakes.
Then the list is stuff I want rather than need, but we all have those don't we!
So here it is. I gave up on trying to fix the white and pulled the forks apart instead...i now have no way of refilling them with oil but we'll cross that bridge later.
Waiting for a can if white to touch up a few bits on the fork lowers and can then finally clear coat it.
I think a year is a bit too long lol
I've buggered it up today. Tried to flat it off a bit and went through the white to primer :(
I think I've come up with an answer, but just means this won't be as clean and perfect as i wanted.
Pics to follow
so ive picked these up....

i want to repaint them with new colour and decals....are these too 'cool' to do this too? is it sacrilege?
Soooo....hand sanding a whole frame is hard work.
Jeez. I've got the headtube and 3/4 top tube done...and now I'm thinking of just making sure it's keyed well enough to do a decent enough job!
none within 50 miles. to be honest, i'm not spending a tenner a time shipping these everywhere before even considering parts and labour. especially as they also need spraying and new decals.
i will cut my losses and look for a working set that i can sneakily just fit and use :D
i've just chatted to TFTuned - apparently knowledgeable fork servicers.....they wont touch Manitous this old  and in fact, don't even like the modern Manitou as there is very little European support for them
Looks like they'll be sent back and my dream of owning a set of these...
Thanks dude. They've got issues so may have to return them.
I've trial fitted them, reduced the damping and eventually managed to wind the preload off but only getting about an inch of travel.
Any ideas?
