The bike then stood in the shed over the winter until I had a couple of spare wheels that I fitted temporarily.
I then rode it for quite a while and now I could understand why Breezers are so popular.
This thing flies! It feels incredibly efficient and yet very comfortable.
The decision was quickly made: the Lightning is coming with me to Nauders to try some trails in the mountains.

Ausgezeichnet! I had a Storm in the same colour scheme, unfortunately the paint was failing, as these usually do. And it was too small for me, so sadly it's gone. Is your hometown Karl-Marx-Stadt? Or should I say Chemnitz?
Yeah it is. I was finally lucky and found one that fits really well if not perfectly.

But before I could get started, I had to take care of a few minor details. However, since the bike was in excellent condition for its age, there wasn't really anything major to do. I cleaned and re-greased all the bearings, replaced the brake pads, fitted flat pedals that offer sufficient grip when things get bumpy, and, of course, fitted suitable grips and tyres that aren't cracked or brittle.
