The originals did yes and were designed for rim brakes.
Then later came along the 5 hole disc version

This is a front one; been on many, many bikes (and now on the front of my Marin). Originally bought as a temporary spare to replace a broken Fatso; QR and no disc tabs, like Lee's rear one.

I think even when they were contemporary they were still a rare choice as anyone wanting a beefy hub likely already had discs.
