I'm pleased to find others here with the same problem as I have. Mine pushed into obsession territory when we bought a mid century box to store and display our collection.
House shopping was eye popping fun, this neighborhood was built in the 60, many original owners were moving out in favor of retirement condos. A house flippers paradise. Several places we weren't interested in, but made inquiries regarding the furniture.
"If the owner is dead, or downsizing..."

An Anglepoise ( 1227) that I cleaned and rewired to give as a wedding present.
The shade was in really good shape but ( for whatever reason) a previous owner ,had enlarged and made a real mess of the bulb holder hole.
I think my brass plate bodge up doesn't look too bad.

Was that the original colour? I have a very similar anglepoise, given to me when I started working from home, it was old then, back in 1990! It is that very institutional beige colour though and I have often toyed with the idea of respraying it.
