|
|
It was a fantastic day. Thank you to everyone that braved the sub-zero temperatures, we were rewarded with some great trails and winter wonderland views.
Counting 5 traffic accidents due to the ice on the A14 and A11 travelling to Thetford todays ride was going to be an epic just to arrive in one piece. Awkward first introduction exchanged, and you are? what's your RB forum name? it was good to see some familiar faces and some that haven't been seen for a while and even better to meet new faces. Fresh snow lay on the ground with ice underneath. The group headed off for the forest on the Brandon side and soon hit the singletrack. This wasn't going to be a fast ride, the snow, ice and in places mud would see to that.
We circled the forest following the winter series 1 route and taking in a few extra bits that could not be missed out. Heading back for lunch at the cafe some rider chose not to go out afterwards.
Coffee / tea / cake / pasties and all other possible combinations later we headed over to the High Lodge side of the forest for a medley of the best bits of the black route and nearly all of last years Dusk 'til Dawn race route.
Overall it was a brilliant days riding, the weather made it special and so did the number of riders. Thank you all for coming. _________________ Beds, Herts, Bucks, Lincs, Northants, Cambs, Norfolk, Suffolk & Essex members support your local group

Looked like you had a good turn out. Sorry didn't make it. Feel like I'm not very well. Been on Lemsip every 4 hours.
Will make it to the next one in Feb though.
Did you see a Red Saxo driving around the car park? Been there the last couple of days looking suspicious! _________________ My Intense Collection - Tracer VP, Slopestyle, Fenix, Uzzi SLX, M1, Tazer FS, Tazer HT, Sniper, Prototype and a Marin Palisades Trail (90) |

I write this (yawn) whilst absolutely knackered...
Many thanks to Neil for giving me a lift.
We counted 5 cars which had come off the A14/ A11 due to non salted roads and ice on our journey there which made us a little cautious
On our way in to Thetford, no snow, a little snow then outside Brandon, a lot of snow _________________ ''...There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die...''

Great to meet up with Retrobikers old and new. What a great turnout!
It seemed to have snowed on the woods especially for us.
I tried out the new helmet video camera, and I'll edit some footage of the ride later.
For now here's a youtube of the riders.
The camera is a version of the MUVI for those interested - best deal at the moment seems to be at Tesco. _________________ 96 Univega 506
