This is my first attempt at bike building, and putting it together for 'er indoors.
It's only going to be a cheap build, but some who like MF may like to follow, and help!
Ok got the frame, front + rear mech, cantis and forks delivered today coutesy of Gravy Monster.
Gm's already had a clean but I've gone at it with the turtle wax n anusol, err I mean autosol and given it a bit more elbow grease. i shall attempt to post some pics as I go along. Grateful for any advice. Cheers Gonzo

Ah!

There's an old saying, the family that retro together get poorer together.

Are you sure you're not going to want to keep it yourself when you're finished?

Day 2 - More polishing.

The dirty ol brakes came up quite good, could do with replacing a part/nut or 2 if anyone knows of any good supplier of shiny bits for LX cantis?

I got the rims on specialised hubs pretty cheap, no idea what year they are but guessing that they are a bit new for this bike, I might change them later, swap with anyone?

The seat post and bars were black Scott Pilot, but everything including ordered stem is silver/polished, so it had to be done, so several housr later....

Wow what a difference a polish makes 8) , what did you use to polish ?

Also on the brakes I would invest in some brake blocks as the old shimano are the originals and will have gone hard , they probably wont stop you either !

used turlte wax on the frame, and autosol and plenty of elbow on the metal! -
Could do with some instructions for the brakes! I'm sure I haven't put them together right (springs right etc)

Managed to get a NOS 1990 tioga avenger headset and fitted that, the bars, Zoom stem and NOS STX today. Had some DX skewers lying around so they went on the wheels. First time fitting a headset from scratch so that was interesting. Those at MM will know my legendary headset adjustments, and they haven't got any better, but it's on! Not sure whether the tioga bar ends will stay but I think they sort of work.
Anyway, few more pics for those interested.
