plus it might entice others from a far if theres a group staying over there.

I was hoping to camp over and tackle Walna Scar Road the next day (early night for me then! ), or maybe Garburn on the way home, whatever anyone fancied really :)

I camped the other year in April at Langdale Valley and my face nearly froze off, so Feb will be nice

I camped in Chapel Stile last April and despite wearing every scrap of clothing I had with me and two sleeping bags, I still ended up in the car with the heater on full blast. I wouldn't want to do it at this time of year unless you have some pretty serious kit.

Brrrrrrrrr

Camping? Nah. Not at this time of year. I was thinking of chipping in with the Yorkies and getting a nice cottage for the weekend. Local beers, cognac and cigars, fine food etc.

I will of course think of you lot shivering in your vangos.

Reminds me of the night I spent camping in a £20 Halfords 'Carnival' tent.

A crap single skin tent at minus 5 is not that much fun.

Right the Lake District National ride announcement thread is now up.

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=183612

Hoping to see a strong NWA contingent there.

Dunno about 'strong', I was thinking more 'weak, shivering and whining', but will be there... 8)

Okay, so forestry operations have called a halt on the trip to Delamere for now.

Instead we'll take in a great little ride out of Hayfield instead.
Calendar updated, threads altered and an announcement for the ride here: --> http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=184780

Apologies for the short notice.

And I've got mud tyres fitted ready to go too...

You sure this isn't so you can pop into your folk's place for a brew if it all gets too much...? What am I saying - I was first in line last time!

Well I was passing Delamere today so decided to take the dog for a bimble.... looks like those mud tyres would have been useless! Any mud was pretty much frozen solid.

Look at those icicles! The rain was just freezing as soon as it touched the ground.

They weren't great for much of the Peaks neither - shook me to bits in places! Or maybe just an easy excuse...

Any days off this week? Need to keep my mileage up!

Anybody headed out East this weekend? Looks like a pleasant day's riding and I'd appreciate sharing the fuel cost!
