We don't like introducing "rules", indeed don't do so lightly, but will do so and enforce them when the need arises so that we can keep this a vibrant and exciting place where people feel free to visit, read and post.
Recent threads here, and to a lesser extent the Eye Candy thread, has bought things into relief so we thought we'd issue guidance and be more explicit about what is appropriate and what is not appropriate. And appropriateness is what this is about - not censorship and not freedom of speech.
Moderate your own behaviour and comments. I'm sure there are things you say to friends down the pub, or when playing football, but would not mention to your mother or at work (and before some wag says that they would, please try to stay with the reasoning). Posting here is no different, so all we are asking for is self regulation - please pause before posting if you think that something might cause offence.
If you wish to post pictures of the fairer sex (be that Man or Woman to you) in a state of undress use (and only use) the Eye Candy thread. Please read the guidance in this thread as to what is acceptable. Page 3 / lads mag - yes. Razzle - no.
If your thread is moderated deal with it.
If you simply want to while away the time why not use the chat room > http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/chat.php
Moderation IS a judgement call - I'm sure we'd agree that anti Semitic bile has no place here but other things are a bit more of a grey area. We do our best to get things right and put in a lot of hard work, much of it behind the scenes when we would really far rather be doing the important things like debating just how much anno is too much and who gets to wear the bear suit. We'd greatly appreciate your help but don't be surprised if we moderate firmly and decisively.
