XN7 how do you date them from the serial number. I'd like to date my Summit.

Here 'tis below rough n ready for getting to the beach and back and leaving in the city streets locked up.

for our generation of frame the serial is found stamped under the bottom bracket. thats where i found mine.. it was under the plastic cable guide that sits there, just relieved the tension on the cables, took off the 1 screw that held the guide in place and read the serial.

btw guys i picked up another old khs.. a 91 descent.. i'll put up some more details and pictures when im more happy with its condition.. lol

cool. Another one on the site can't be bad. I can't make any sense out of my serial number but i assume mine to be a 93

Thats a great example (assuming that is a current pic).
Mine has retired from active duty, and hasn't retained as many original parts as yours - I simply raced the rims, front & rear mechs, shifters, brake levers, brakes, headset, and pedals to death!

In fact the only original parts that remain are the frame, forks, seat post, cranks, and (bizarrely) the hubs! Although I cringe at the noises that eminate from them each time I ride it

I just feel left out now and red/yellow goes well with my other bike

recently purchased a montana comp from lewis 1641 via flea bay.
pics on here somewhere. i aim to keep it as it is equipped at moment
although i may need a comfier perch being such an old fart.
some really smart khs bikes on here i bought one new back in the day
whe my local lbs started to stock mtbs
same model montana comp but with rigid (spinner) forks.
in bright red . was a sweet handling thing too ended up pushed into commuting duties eventually and then moved on.
been looking for one a while now will no doubt be tempted to re build
eventually with cantis etc .
but for now just going to enjoy it as is . well built with decent gear
