Marinator & myself are trying to finally get a hold of the correct zolatone paint so that we can bring back to original spec our 90' and 91' zolatone frames. I'm sure other members on here may be keen to respray their treasured 90' or 91' Marins with the correct zolatone paint and we are hoping our efforts will benefit more than just the 2 of us in the long run.

A firm has been contacted and they require samples of the paint in the form of either a whole frame or a sample of tubing from a donor frame.

Sending frames to the US and having them returned may be prohibitive in the circumstances once all costs are considered.....

Therefore, we are looking for anyone who might be happy to donate a zolatone frame from either 1990 or 1991. It would make us feel better if we knew that the donated frame was either damaged or worn beyond repair. Having said that if you have a frame which you feel it would be worth sacrificing to obtain the correct paint then get in touch (esp. lower spec frames as these may be seen as less desirable).

We appreciate that these frames are valuable to their owners and that folks may not be pouring forward to volunteer frames but if you can help please drop either of us a PM.

Many thanks

Drew & Scott

great idea chaps.

Would it be more beneficial to try and get one of each shade (light and dark) if possible?

Sorry Steve, that's is what we are looking for, one for each year (or the Matt grey (90') and charcoal grey (91') if you like).

Looking at pictures zolatone 20 doesn't look a million miles from
my frame. I have asked for a sample of that grey to see if the
texture is rights, I was wondering how I send a sample.

Heres the zolatone 20.

Yup, looks close but apparently we should be able to get a colour match so that will be interesting to see just how close it is....hopefully 100% dead-on.
Texture is important too as you mention....
Can keep you posted if you like when we find the right stuff integerspin... :)

I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for a possible donor frame from eBay but still plugging here in the hope that someone might want to donate a Zolatone to a very good cause.....big hints  :D

wa' down at my local powder coaters the other day.

he hadn't heard of zolatone 2000 but can replicate, as near as damn it. i'm working on it with him for texture and shade.

In the long-term a possible alternative to cellulose built up methods. and, a less faff way of getting the job done. they take the frame/fork/whatever as it is and, the preparation is all part of the service. if i get a sample frame done at some point i will update this thread with the results.

flouro too. they can do orange, pink, yellow, green, very marin-ish
