My love affair with the battlefield series is unfortunately at an end.
the latest instalment of bf BF3 is so glitched i just cannot play it any longer so have uninstalled it and the origin forum required to play.

One of the main problems is that at the end of each round the game crashes and i need task manager to close it down.If ive been playing with friends and theres a queue then im at the back and may not get a game on that round,or more likely so far into it that i only get a few minutes play before the round ends and i crash again.
I decided that i would complete the campaign and on that conclusion look about for another to get my gaming fix from
Seems that i cannot even do that. :? 3 or 4 levels in and it locks up so have to use task/m to shut it.Its at a section where i have to open a door to progress to the next level and as i cant then that is the end of that.

Im not alone with these problems, the origin forum has threads amounting to hundreds of complaints, probably thousands.
Complain and the trolls take over so the thread gets locked and you achieve nothing.EA[the company releasing the game] prefers all complaints to be put on another forum off site.Out of sight out of mind is there policy and thats really shit behaviour. If you search for related content the search engine comes back with results dated 4 or 5 months ago, again somewhat misleading even though there are dozens of similar threads posted each day
I feel theres no point in continuing as all i get is agitation and thats not what its suppose to be about.

This is the state of play
Buy game
Game fails to work properly
No refund.

Anyone suggest a nice first person shooter that i can play.As long as it wasnt released by EA ill give it a go.Si-Fi,battlefield type i dont mind just as long as it wprks out of the box :D

Imn usually the type that buys a game and goes straight to multiplayer so the majority of my games i havent played in single player yet so have those to go through. These include Crysis,The earlier BF ones [BF2142/Vietnam] L4D L4D2,most of the Steam halflife series[Now there was a game 8)]

Its just the whole if it doesnt work tough titty business i cant get my head around. Its the only industry where you dont have any rights if it doesnt work.
It's gone now so no more pulling my hair out in frustration. 8)

One of the reasons I gave up PC games we the fact that you had to keep upgrading hardware to keep up and if there was a driver glitch or bug with the game on your hardware you were screwed. Consoles may not have as much power but it's easy to test on the 1 hardware platform and patch a glitch if something is discovered.
Mind you I hardly get the time to play anything more than a game of solitaire these days.

Carl.

PC
I cant use a console and tbh dont want to. :?
24 players max instead of 64,no real distance, everything really dumbed down into a spray and pray, too much camping and although its called bf3 its really bad company 3 mixed with call of duty.
Aim assist??
My system meets recommended spec all except the cpu which is an athlon 64 X2 6000+ which more than meets the minimum spec.

I can play games fine[till the crash] but its not my end,its the totally busted netcode :?
Beta testing was short and failed to do what beta was supposed to.Probably rushed early to the market but they have our money now but are unwilling to address many of the issues. If it works for the majority then tough luck to the rest :?

PC gaming is definitely hard to keep up with year in year out (literally).

Not sure when the next medal of honor is coming but think thats ea but fine for me on console.

Red dead redemption? Or any of those series?
Or assasins creed looks ace but not strictly shooter.

Ill look into those cheers :D
Maybe best just to play the campaigns and get something else each time.If i want online theres still about 1000+ people playing BF2 8)

I really fancy Arma 3[270 km².] :D or planetside 2 which is even bigger with 1000's of players  If it ever makes it to release

My GPU is so big the case needed to be built around it  I meet requirements for most games on medium to medium/high but am thinking of a new set up .All i really need is more ram and maybe a 2nd GPU,but that means a new m/board and im not sure i can be bothered going to that extreme :?
Probably best to start again with the gpu i have, add a 2nd and build it from there using last year or the year before top spec.Cheapest way to do it

This system has done well not a lot i cant run :?

My love affair with Battlefield died with BC2, but was terminally i'll after BF2. It had been diagnosed with serious series rot after BF42 though.

Good news is that in september we are having a big reunion get together in London catching up and remembering the first time we met on a small pacific island by the name of Wake, 10 years ago. A time before we went on to conquer all on the british shores and pushed into europe. (before the start of a long drawn out demise)

You probably don't want to hear this but I've been playing mw3 since christmas with no problems, online and campaign.
I did upgrade our 7 year old top spec HP pc to a current equvilant one around the same time though. Old one couldn't take it, ran everything else no bother though.
I fancied bf for a change, you say not to bother ?

i dont have time for pc gaming, though it does seem like they (ea) have left their pc roots behind and got swallowed up but the console market. did you have to fork out to go premium too?

More problems than its worth
Though you could be lucky and it work right off,but the 1000's of complaints more or less about the same type of issues point towards it being unfinished. And the reluctance for EA to address these issues such as insisting any reported problems be posted off site is a good indication they dont care.
When it was released punkbuster had been compromised and hacking was going on like you wouldnt believe, even now theyre banning 100's of accounts per month, more than any game ever released. That itself attracts huge amount of complaints but if you post them up they lock the thread and insist you post on another forum.

I recommend BF2
The jets work and theres still plenty of players that care about winning for the team and not what they get for themselves.

Never will we see the likes of jet stunting again

BF2 was so cool...... : )
A dimension that consoles never achieved so far...
It was my fav stress relief from the complex world of simulations.
I even played some wars for a clan to recall older times of UT and Tactical Ops...
