Hi all,

many thanks for your support in another thread, following my accident.

I was never going to be fit enough to get to the Surry Hills RB national event, so i went to Dorset for a quiet weekend of getting back into cycling.

Ended up in Wareham, cycling the Sika Trail in Wareham Forest, which a nice re-introduction to being on a bike again. We took all day to do 10 miles, but had a picnic, and pub stop as well. Oddly, the wearing of a cycle helmet was not as bad as i had imagined it would be. By the end of the day i felt really comfortable being back on a bike again.

We stayed at Redclyffe Farm campsite, Ridge, which is nice, good showers, but a bit midgy at dusk.

From Wareham we followed the Northport Greenway to the forest, then the Sika Trail, which is well marked. We detoured to Woolsbarrow Iron Age Fort for a picnic lunch, and to the Silent Woman pub for refreshments.

Close to the start, 1x Voodoo Bantu, 1x Specialised Rockhopper, and an Apollo FS.

The final descent from the fort. Not steep, but very sandy. Best to keep to the grass margins.

Following the pub stop, we came to a viewpoint, where the Bantu rider decided to show us some new tricks, that you can only do on a Bantu.....

The last pic is only bike related because we went there to cycle......Redclyffe Sailing Club in the afterglow following dusk.

I'm staying at that exact same campsite this weekend!
First outing of a new tent, so it's kind of a dry (hopefully!) run for Mayhem next month.
Was planning on taking my girlfriend over to Wareham forest for a spin on her rock lobster.

Great way to come back :D

Hi Dave,

Really sorry I missed your other threads it was only the other day that Jonathan told me of your accident. Very sorry to hear about it.

However, with that and this thread, glad to hear you are back on the mend and on the bike, we are missing you at whiteways. :)

Take care, hope we can all catch up with you soon.

D
