As you may already be aware from reading my previous posts, I originally put this bike up on these forums as Karma, as I found it, reported it to the police, and then later claimed it.

I then learned about a charity auction taking place in my local pub, the proceeds of which were to go towards the Gleision Miners (Google it), so decided that I would like to help out and donate the bike as an auction lot.

I needed a few bits for the bike (namely chain, cables, pedals and shifters), as it had been left out in the rain before I found it, and was in a bit of a sorry state. Some very kind Retrobikers donated the bits required, and the bike was built up, ready to be put into the auction.

When I contacted the pub and told them about the bike, they were reluctant to take it, because of the fact that I had found it. Although I had gone down all the right channels (reporting it to Police etc), there was still the chance that the original owner may have been at the auction, and was therefore within his rights to claim the bike if he saw it.

So, to cut a long story short, I still have the bike, and rather than sell it I would like to revert back to giving it to somebody on these forums as Karma.

To everyone who donated kit, please let me know if you require any money for it and I will be happy to pay. Also, could the person who donated the grip shifts please pm me, as I have not used them and will be able to return them to you if you would like them back.

Although I could pop the bike in the local free ads and probably sell it, I do not think that this is fair to the people who gave up some of their kit to help me build it. Therefore I would rather it went to someone on these forums who could make good use of it and I'm sure that those of you who donated kit to me would agree that this is the best way to go.

The bike is in very good shape overall. It needs a new set of budget forks as the RSTs are coming to the end of their usable life, and have rust spots on the stanchions. It could also do with some new headset bearings. However that really is about it.

The bike will need to be collected from me (Penarth, South Wales CF64). I am unable to box it as I just don't have the time at the moment to go to my LBS to pick up a box. Please bear this in mind.

I'm going to allocate numbers to everyone who wants one, and 'draw' the winning number on Sunday, November 6th. If you would like a number, please reply to this thread. I will not reply to you with your number, however I will post the list of names/numbers before I do the draw, so that everybody knows what's what. A random number generator will be used for the draw to ensure fairness. Thanks

Picture - please note that this was taken BEFORE the new cables, chain and other bits were fitted:

I haven't sorted the headset - I haven't really had time to dismantle it to see what it needs - however I'd hazard a guess that it needs new bearings which should be simple enough to replace :)
