Awesome build fella. It looks really classy with the black lx, and the tioga stem goes well too.

Really like it and funnily enough have a few similar bits for mine!

As Keith Lemon would say "bang tidy " 8)

Really like the look of this and am liking your attention to detail and especially the choice in stem, 150mm is a must on these  I must say I am rather jealous of the wolber rims :)

Ive been on my Estay Saracen today and will never be bored of the short wheelbase twitchyness

Very nice build, good choice of parts in the end, it all sits together really well.

Really like the way you set up those cantis, very logical and takes out all the guess work. I'll definately be giving this method a go next time around.

Thanks guys!

I love the observation by Gravy Monster about twitchiness

This is how I described it in a PM:

"I'd describe it as nimble with the short wheel base and long reach stem

I like the ride and handling!"

So yep we deffinitely concur, Mr Gravy Monster!

Glad you didn't!

The bits I have used of the original bike have cleaned up like new, looks a bit faded in the pics cos of poor light, in the flesh it looks factory fresh

Just, checked out your projects - cool stuff indeed

Excellent work.. If you don't mind me saying but i think a silver dx chainset would look class with all the other dx stuff.. I only say this because when i did my race elite I really wanted the black lx chainset to go with the other black lx 560 stuff.. I ended up with the dx chainset in the end :?

Handling wise I have to agree.. To be honest I really don't like the twitchiness when going down something steep. But, I love how these things are easy to climb hills on and generally I am very happy with my one..

Enjoy :D

Fantastic build, love these Saracen E-stays. I just missed out on a Kili at the weekend.

Aw Dendy! It's a bit late to turn with an alternative opinion!

In all seriousness, though, I viewed the XT brakes and sliver chainset as one package, and the black LX brakes and black LX chainset as another

It was only when a couple of guys threw in the alternative of XT brakes and LX chainset that it got considered

I'll probably spray the cages of the pedals at some point and I might just sneak a silver chainset on just out of interest.... :D

But right now, it totally works for me, everything on it is black and silver I think the balance is spot on, aesthetically

On the subject of handling, I'm gonna sort out another set of wheels and tyres and go down some steep stuff! These wheels and tyres look totally mint so I'll keep them for 'special' - Yes, I did scrub the tyres!

I bet another will be along soon!

I see in your Cro-Mega thread you noticed they were appearing everywhere

- I had an Al-Mega BITD

Same thing happened here! All of a sudden loads of Saracen e-stays appearing, not just Kilis, but this very model, in this very colour! Very cool! Lots of note swapping and snooping on the other guy's builds, making sure I wasn't too similar!

I totally agree with the way you have it aesthetically setup, the balance is "right" and if you did change to a silver chainset you would probably have to introduce more silver elsewhere.. Either way I am nit picking about nothing really cos it looks smart as it is.

Looks like you can't go wrong! We all did something different and ended with cracking looking bikes!

They actually look different too, which is something! I'd love to see them all together at some point

Including yours! Although I know yours is going to be a bit of an epic re-build
