Spooky Bikes custom FTW steel! UPDATED! PICS! METAL HEAD!

Hey Mickey, look what you posted on my Metal Head thread about a year ago!

"Dude,
That thing is a **** abortion! I love it.

We are making a few steel frames in the next couple of weeks that are basically geared or SS BMX race cruisers designed for riding as fast as you can in the woods with flat pedals... That would be pretty rad for your commute, ya know..."

I guess it has come to fruition but with a big wheel twist!

Pauls are nicer IMO, wouldn#t have thought stiffness differences would have been too much of a design fatcor :?

I am not following this potentially expensive topic  ;)

just checking back occasionally!

i think the paul drop outs. at first i couldnt decide between them and thought paul because theyre paul
but looking at the closely, i like the way the paul drop outs curve to accomadate the axle

The entry angle on the Pauls is a little too wide. ~67 degrees instead of the ~58 degrees that a plate-style mtb drop setup needs That means they look pretty funky when stuck on a mtb.

The fork is 438 with 38mm offset. I think we will use a Vicous fork, but Carl has been a real bear to get in touch with.
I want a certain degree of stability so that Atom's tall ass has balanced weight distribution.

It's great to hear FTW is back and doing what he does best. Looking forward to seeing this one when you get hold of it... and also to see what else comes out of Spooky in the near future!

UPDATE! NAHBS is over and I have seen and ridden the bike!

Went to the North American Handmade Bike Show in Austin, Texas. Mickey had a booth and drove down from Massachusetts with bikes from many New England builders.

With out further delay here is the FTW made 29er BMX dubbed the Atom Bomb!

Threw in a shot of Mickey for good measure. The bb spindle length was a touch to short and everything was a little close in the chainring dept. but the longer spindle is coming in next week and will be put on.

It looks like a 29er and rides like you dirt jump it! It's the best of both worlds in one! Cruise, singletrack, jump, this bike is fun! It's being driven back from the show and I will pick it up form Spooky HQ soon. If anyone out there ever wanted a Spooky and never had the chance, this is the time to get one. Custom made FTW bikes with collaboration from Mickey. I love this bike! What do you guys think?
