Cycling glasses - what do you wear?

Cheap as owt - gotta add the VAT though. If you say you work for say "Siemens" based in Hebburn or Newcastle you will get some wedge off too!

Gonna stick my oar in and mention BBB again. I've a set with 3 interchangeable lenses, clear, dark and ruby red. They're great on the bike and I also wear them as normal sunglasses and they don't look out of place at all. They wraparound my face very nicely.

Anyone had any experience with the glasses with prescription inserts.

A. Are they any good (or do they fog)

B. How much roughly for the prescription bits and anyone recommend
somewhere.

I've got Rudy Project Rydons with prescription inserts - with photochromic lens (the prescription lens are plain plastic ones).

A. I like them, fit my face, don't have to worry about light and dark.
Do they fog, yep - in damp/humid conditions they fog, especially if t's cold as well - so did the Bolle's before them, main advantage is that you can remove the insert bit easily and still use them (vision limitations aside). Swimming goggle anti-fog helps, but doesn't stop it.

B. I got mine from http://www.gobikespex.co.uk/default.asp. They let you order the standard bit first to check they fit OK, before you ordered the prescription insert!

Still using my original 1991 Mumbos - blue/white/grey splatter frame with blue iridium lens

I wear specs and just had laser surgery on both eyes for torn retinas. My surgeon recommended using wrap-arounds to protect my eyes from the wind as normal specs don't do the job properly.

Being a tightwad I decided against Oakleys and some of the other companies so I just bought a pair from this company. Got them through my opticians for £99 inc. prescription inserts. You can also DIY via website for £69 if you send them your prescription.

They come with three colours of detachable lenses

On my first ride today they seemed to do the trick, although the inserts are quite small so take a bit of getting used to. No real trouble with fogging on a short, not too strenuous ride.

Another option is to get contact lenses for bike rides for use with non-prescription glasses.

For clear lens specs get to your nearest builders merchants and buy some safety specs. I have some Bole ones, they look just like cycling specs but being PPE (personal protective equipement) they are VAT free

For tinted use I have a couple of pairs of Brikos.

i wear these boc (the welding specialists) safety glasses at around £6 a pair. they are cheap and i was fed up breaking oakleys

I wear my spectecles.

Prescription lens sunglasses from Specsavers - if you insist they will do them with CLEAR lenses! A whole lot cheaper than prescription "cycling" spectacles - especially for the >60s!!
