Dunkers big bad build thread

spent some time weighing stuff tonight

bike minus chain pedals and wheels is 4.6 kgs
looking at tyres tubes and wheels
the nice light pulstar/fir wheels are not that light 1180/858g bare
but a syncros front wheel i have is 772 g
and an xtr/121 is 1066 not that light but lighter
the tubes i have are 175/198g so will get some 98g ones after christmas
and tyres , conti xc 1.5 are 447 g
the front raptor on my existing weenie bike is 680g
so on the search for lighter bigger tyres

might buy a pair of those kcnc knife pedals too , christmas and all that

Just read this from start to finish after using the search function for something completely irrelevant, cracking read people keep up the good work!

:D why not do the same from afar!

My base would be an estay saracen that weighs more than me  .

I will one day. I might suggest similar for a planned SW ride in 2011. :D

hows the saracen coming on ade ?

Hi fella, well the seatpost is out. That was main stumbling point. Got some parts now, just waiting for some bargain wheels, front mech, etc then I can send it to the powdercoaters in the new year for a respray which is absolutely needs, which is a shame as I like a bit of a rough look. Sadly has no paint at all on the bottom bracket shell and bad scratches all over, plus a weird orange paint all over it.

I will keep you informed :D

Original Front Wheel Total = 1891g
New Front Wheel Total = 1334g Saved = 557g

Code:

Inner Tube 265 87 178 Maxxis Flyweight
Interesting difference in weight between the heavier 1.8 wire bead and 2.1 folding XC Pros.

 nice one ZZ same for the back then?
Possibly - 64g saving on the skewers, 39g on the tyre. Haven't weighed anything else, but back wheel's pretty generic, so should save something with the 231 / 732 hub.

Fair enjoying this, has to be said :)
