Bought this rough ffame as spares on ebay for £36, I thought why not give it a go, ill never be able to justify buying a decent frame for £200+ so ill give this a shot.
Iv cut the horrible shock mount out that someone had welded on and am going with an adjustable geomatry shock shuttle, im going to have a go at making it myself to save some money. Its going well so far need some new bearings and start deciding what colour to go with. I like the bright orange dropouts and im thinking of using that on the main frame and spraying the rest of the swing arm black?
Anyway here are some pics so far............

The crack in the swing arm has been welded up nicely and a new brake tab too. Its going to take a while to do this one (just finished a quake 5.0) but it'll keep me out of trouble!

first of all....good luck :D

second.....take the spring off the rear shock/release the air in the platform of the shock...put in the rear wheel with tyre attatched.

from the photo's it looks like you have a 215x63 manitou shock in there?
if so do as above and then fully compress the rear shock....im guessing that you will run into problems with the rear tyre hitting the seat tube as those older frames are only designed for a maximum of 57mm stroke.

i could be wrong though :?

Thanks for the advice, I have a back up x fusion shock just in case. I need all the luck I can get!

Just a quick update, i decided to spray the frame black, dont want to waste any money on paint if its not going to work!So far iv made the adjustable shock shuttle and some custom bushes. I need some cheap running gear and brakes now but I think its coming together nicely, oh and iv fit some new sealed bearings too.

Awsome work & skills there buddy

Looking forward to seeing hat all finished up,

Quite liked the white\red on the swingarm though :D

Gc

They're brilliant Patriots. I've had one in the past and it was great. Decent shock on them and they're pretty versitile machine.

You're looks good in matt black, very stealth like :)

Are you building it purely for downhill and AM use? if so id definatly pop alot shorter stem on it.
I think i would ahve gone for the bold bright colours myself.
