today at 17.45 whilst going through Plymouth city centre i got knocked off my newly sprayed kona by a bus driver, luckily he admitted he was too close and admitted it again to the Police Officer that turned up. The bike needs new mudguards, helmet nice battle scar front right corner{kissing the tarmac}, gloves ripped, cycling leggings, cheapy karrimor £6 special{ mums going to go mad   } ripped Also my seiko watch smashed glass and bezel. Me i escaped with rightside abrasions, they will be lovely colour within next 24 hours . Paramedics/Police good as gold.

Any body had this done to them, what are the insurance companies like to get your gear replaced, i am NOT going to kick the arse with the claim just want my stuff replaced like for like

Iam here and ok :D , bit pissed off/dented, managed to ride for another 5 miles home

keep on riding

Glad to hear it doesn't sound like anything too major.

ibelieveinfixies got knocked off his bike, he is good for a shout

Luckily I'm a member of the CTC and have free legal cover as part of my membership. Called my Solicitors from hospital and they are on the case.

Check your home insurance you may well have legal cover as part of that. Use a professional, it is a lot easier than trying to do it yourself, the sole aim of the insurance companies is to minimize their losses. I received a call from the drivers insurance company badgering and lying to me to try and make me drop the claim against them, be careful if you go it alone.

Nightmare, glad you you are not to badly injured. If you get stuck with your watch please feel free to PM me, my mate is a Jeweler & traditional watch maker that happens to specialise in Sekio, Im sure he can sort it out.

Hope you aint to sore in the morning dude :(

Sorry to hear the news but pleased your ok. I've been clipped & knocked off my bike a few times but the driver has always done off  A car pulled out straight infront of my mate & he went straight into the side of the car bending his front wheel into a bin lid. He got the drivers details & the police were passing so stopped & said the car driver was at fault. My mate got the money for a new front wheel & a set of forks for his Pace RC100 (years old at the time) off the guy's insurance company so I can't see why you can't put in a claim for your damaged parts

Glad your OK.
I got took out at a junction whist stationary. It was BITD. I used a firm from the back of Cycling Weekly. It took forever to get sorted. I had to go for a medical as my knee was damaged. The bike was a write off.
Eventually settled.

Get photo's of everything, you, the bike, the watch etc to show the damage. Get a statement of injury from the hospital etc.
If you have any receipts for damaged items all the better.

As stated, you may have legal cover on your home policy. Check that out.

Good luck

Glad you're alright, for the most part. Bus on cyclist accidents don't usually end that well.

I'm with believe in fixies; don't go at it without representation.

Thanks for all the support :D :D , on leaving the scene the Police Officer told me that she would be reporting the driver for driving with undue care, i have rang the claims line to register the accident, somebody will be ringing me in the next 24 hours.

Thanks again, all info/help/advice all taken, keep you all updated. Tomorrow i will catalogue/photo all damage and injuries and visit my Doctor.

Thanks all Ernie ;)
