importing from the states

Hi everyone - looking at importing a KONA HOT 1995 from the states, frame only, what are the pitfalls and any tips i should take heed of before i jump in head first??

any info on the following would be useful

approx postage costs for frame only?
any customs charges - problems?
expected delivery time?
the best carrier/courier to use?

Not much help: It varies!!! Depends on whos sending it, from where, how and how much they declare its value for.

Ive paid different amounts as the years have passed = I'd look to budget around 80 quid for postage and customs charge depending on value.

so should we (USA) declare a high value or a low one when shipping over seas?

i've had UK customers come into the shop, buy a bike and ask that it get ridden(get it dirty) before we ship, whats that all about?

If you declare low value...You're in trouble if you need to make a claim.
If you declare true value...Our government sees fit to charge us VAT to collect it.
