RAC Seeded entry list now up. Our SAAB is running 2nd on the road and will be sweeping the loose stuff off. Not ideal.

On the subject of SAAB, 60's rallying legend Eric Carlsson will be at the start in Pickering on Saturday morning. Eric won the RAC and Monte Carlo rallies 3 times in the tiny two stroke SAAB 93 of which a replica will also be on display at the showground.

Nigel Barrett Wakefield Nissan Micra 1295 White

Do you think he'll drop off Lamb Rogan Josh with extra chapattis?

Rover SD1, Saab 900, Opel Ascona... mmm

Some top stuff but no Steve Bannister. He is the king of the Yorkshire forests in his Escort 'Ethel'

Back in 1989 I serviced for him on the York National. Ford turned up with a prototype 4wd Sierra Cosworth with Gwyndaf Evans at the wheel.
Steve took two seconds per mile off them in the first stage in Dalby and came into service with the rear tyres down to the wire. Next stage he took another 8 seconds off them with a rear puncture over the last 3 miles.
After another 3 stages they packed up and went home

Steve won by over 2 minutes.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!- CHANGE OF TIMINGS AND START POINT.

Due to a larger than expected entry for the RAC, the organisers have changed the stage timings. The Langdale stage will now take place at 14:13. This timing alteration and the size of the entry means that we will finish the ride in darkness and LIGHTS WILL BE REQUIRED.

We also have a new start/finish location and time.

START/FINISH WILL NOW BE DIXON'S HOLLOW CAR PARK. RIDE STARTS 10:30 SHARP.
The car park is located half way around Dalby Forest Drive and is opposite the Pace Bikepark.

We (Myself, Beavis and Brocklanders) will be there about 9.30- 10am traffic permitting

I expect it to be snowing on saturday according to one long range forcast but you never know. :D

Really looking forward to this.

D LIGHTS WILL BE REQUIRED.

I do not have lights suitable. I take it there is an escape route? for those who wish to finish earlier.

There are plenty of escape routes throughout the day but as the rally doesn't finish until around 15:40-16:00 you will have to be pretty quick to make it back to Dixon's before it gets too dark. We managed it last year- just. Its about 4 miles from Langdale to Dixons but does involve a big climb. I would guess at about an hour.
I do have a spare set of lights i could loan you though.

Si

I have a spare set of lights and fixing I can bring with me if there any help to any one.

weather is looking interesting

Trying to book a B&B in the Pickering area as I don't fancy a night in the van now. Me and Simonside are heading down on friday evening to catch the night stage in Dalby. Hoping to get over to Cropton Brewery afterwards as its the beer festival weekend and Gil will be on top form no doubt
