good welder , will be fine
might be a good idea to heat treat it after tho

280 dec c for 2 hours ish and let it cool in air
180 deg c for 3-4 hours and quench

i realise that this may open the doors for a load of comments
but it works for me with the cranks i do
 
Those stems were recalled in '91 due to this problem. Might be worth replacing if just to be on the safe side.
 
Somehow managed to miss this thread until now, bad luck with the stem but the rest of the build is looking awesome :D

got a girvin flexy wrist comming so will try that for now :roll:
its finished bar the stem and cables.
i will post some pics during the week,

just needs a shakedown tomorow, ive fitted the girvin flex stem and some other flatties for now untill i have the stem repaired

shame about the stem but this is a great looking bike. the wheels really suite

yes been aiming for that date to get it finished, i dont think i will have the stem done before xmas, a shame really because it does look alot better with the oversized astars bars and stem imo.
also just picked up a set of nos amber walls in 2.1 form , i will post a pic later for opinions, cheers
