Well, you could make a cut out of some bike shield stuff, basically a thick rubbery plastic with glue on one side. Cut it out so that it follows and overlaps your stickers slightly, and they would stay protected, whilst not looking too off.
I dont know how bike shield is sold nowadays, but when i purchased some, years ago, you got a big sheat, and could cut out your own bits from it. lately ive only seen ready cut sets, like for cable rub spots, and the chainstay.
But this type of protective rubber/plastic/thingy, should also be available at motorbike shops etc.
