2011......This will offend retro riders, please do not look!

Both fugly hideous stupid blah blah hate them both.

But, I'm sure they will sell.

Why are they stupid?

Im no expert but from a glance im sure they are perfectly designed for purpose.
ie, long travel to take big hits - this is what all the kids want, more air time = bigger hits

sloping top tube for extra room and clearance

stong tubing

I realise most of us on here are old school officianado's, but there are plenty of strnage looking retro bikes out there that most consider beautiful/iconic etc.

Smacks of ''by 'eck, they weren't like that in my day, so they must be poop'' to me.

I wouldnt buy one in a million years, but that mostly down to my age/skills (or lack of)

Maybe I'm being totally dense but what's the cable running up to the saddle for?

It's for the handlebar mounted spring loaded lockout for saddle height.

Wow, what will they think of next? How about some kind of process whereby aluminium could be made to look purple?

but then when I see the younger kids making 40ft+ jumps at my local trails, I realise that these things are probably perfect for the job.

If I was going for a gap that large the last thing I'd want is 8" of front travel . I'm sure they have a use ( even if it is just to make middle aged men think they own something "core" ) but it certainly isn't anywhere around here .

The kids still use small , short travel hardtails for just riding , funny that .

Well I like the look of them, they look like lots of fun, I'd love a shot! Like the colours too! Are there any geometry specs? Not so keen on the graphics mind and I've never been a fan of the planet X/on one/ragley names.

All modern bikes tend to be aimed at middle aged men with bulging wallets, not just this genre.

And perhaps the kids are different down my way, but ive seen them making full use of this kind of travel.

If the long travel genuinely destroyed the purpose of the bike, they would not sell. Ragley are a specialist brand.

I like the fact a British designer is doing something a bit different.
Heaven forbid if all bikes looked the same.

180mm fork on an HARD TAIL? So, erm, why? Seriously, in what terrain / riding conditions do I need to have a front end capable of tackling boulder fields and a rear that is solid?

Totally agree with the above comment, if i used my Pace Rc200 or my rigid Kona and went on one of my more shall we say technical outings i would either kill myself or do permanent damage to myself, each and every bike has its own purpose, and designed accordingly, as you say they are made to do a job and ragley do what they are ment to do VERY VERY well, thats why im looking for an alloy version now, big hitting rock smashing high BB slack as hell headset, totally fantastic for my riding
