i would not worry about that. i like the cable bare, less work on my end :LOL:

i have seen it covered in electrical tape (cheap looking), pvc, paint( not a good idea---ugly after one ride), and well stainless is really classic. although i am obviously intrigued by the red.
 
The two mechs use Gore Ride on red cable covers...so just wrapped the down tube cable in the same stuff. Had the "Hot" of the sticker also done in a red instead of the original orange-sh color in an attempt to match.
Then found some old red Ritchey pads....

Judging from the shiny black the repaint was not done by powdercoating but through "wet" paint, right?
 
Nice. Very nice! What about some more period correct tires? Black skinwall is nice, but not modern style.
