now get the nose of the seat up a few degrees and the handlebars rolled round 'til almost parallel with the top tube and it will look just perfect!

A bit late in commenting but...
I had one of of those from new in the early 80s. It was exactly as in the picture and a really nice bike for the price with a surprisingly good spec. Unfortunately I ordered it with a frame size that was a little too large for me so I sold it to a friend.
I seem to recall that I bought it from a discount warehouse operator in Manchester that specialised in end-of-season sales and I replaced it with a Team Replica from the same company. I hate to think what the prices were in those days - very low by today's standards.

My GS is all tucked away for the winter. Rode lovely this summer, not so much as a slipped gear. Only gripe is Gran Sport brakes are truly awful! I should change them really but don't want to break up the groupset..
Just incase anyone might have one or know where I can get one, I need to replace the down-tube decal. I've looked in all the obvious places but can't seem to find this exact one anywhere.

Seeing your Raleigh Gran Sport brings back loads of good memories. I got one new from Pedal Power in Stirling in 1982 - cost £325 - and came with Weinmann concave rims and Cinelli (?65 / Criterium) bars and 1A stem. After wrecking both wheels in a car-collision I stung the guilty driver for the cost of replacement wheels, so upgraded to Mavic MA40's on 500RD hubs. Later, I removed the GS front mech, which I still have, but sadly, the bike went walkies one night in Aberdeen, 1990. Sadly missed. Nice bike - this is a cracker.
